Expanding our Speech Services in our Arlington Heights and Northbrook centers!
The Speech-Language Pathologist 1) designs and provides direct treatment to clients with Autism Spectrum Disorders in one-on-one and group contexts and 2) actively collaborates with established and newly formed ABA programming teams (including BCBAs and trained Care Team Members) to support center-based services. An appropriately matched candidate will be a SLP who is behaviorally-minded and open to developing, implementing, and evaluating interventions in all areas related to Speech-Language Pathology while working closely with professionals of other backgrounds (including but not limited to BCBAs and counselors)
A Behaviorally-Minded SLP shares in these ABA programming ideals:
A commitment to evidence-based teaching - using methods that have been shown to be effective through published scientific research.
Data based decision making - reliance on daily data collection and analysis of learning variables to guide teaching and new target selection.
Errorless learning - used to promote rapid skill acquisition by prompting and reinforcing correct responses before errors occur. Establish a high amount of over-prompted, correct responses and then fade cues.
Intensive, individualized instruction - opportunities for repeated practice of client-specific skills
Focus on 4 functions of language - requesting, labeling, repeating, and conversing.
Generalization procedures - used to encourage use of learned responses across functions, settings, and people.
Positive consequences - continuous assessment of current reinforcers used to maximize learning opportunities
*Minimum of 2 years of experience working with children or young adults with Autism Spectrum Disorders
*Willingness and experience in coordinating care with multiple providers (including SPED teachers, BCBAs, OT’s, PT’s, and Pediatricians) is preferred
*Preference: Hold the ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP); strong CFY candidates considered
